Angry How to clean after distemper

Hey everyone,

I have been cradling my foster puppy like a baby all weekend. She'd seem to get better then suddenly get worse. Long story short: I am expecting a puppy in my home in approx. 1 month and I want to make sure I clean properly to not spread distemper.

"Long story":
Reading around here I feared she had distemper. She was seen by the vet a few times but they only diagnosed kennel cough. Vet said the antibiotics could take care of her other issues (gel fluid leaking out of eyes and nose).

Growing symptoms were:
-Not drinking on her own, loss of appetite, diarrhea,
-Unable to stand and seemed to be losing muscle control
-Then shakes/seizures.

I just got back from dropping her off at the vet and was phoned by organization to let me know she is being euthanized due to distemper. Now that (for the most part) I am done crying, I am here to ask for help on how to properly sanitize my home to prep it for a new puppy.

I mostly kept my foster pup on hard surfaces that can be mopped; however, she did also take a leisurely stroll or two around my bedroom and living room which are both carpeted areas. How do I properly clean carpeting to prevent spread of distemper virus?
