Biewer is the last name of the German breeder who started the breed. I think it was his kennel name too although I know "ala Pom Pom" is part of the kennel name too.

A Biewer is a tri-color dog ...white, black and brown. Parti-color can be 2 or three colors but white has to be one of the colors. Tri-colors here in the US are produced the same way as the Biewer was originally produced in Germany by the mating of two traditional colored yorkies who carry the recesssive genes for those colors that in the yorkshire terrier backgorund.
