Default Anyone have any experience training a deaf yorkie?

I recently rescued a yorkie that was supposedly 1.5 yrs and a puppy mill dog that was only used for breeding. I was told he spent his life in a cage only moved to other cages to breed. The first day I got him I found out that he was deaf which was disappointing but OK, because as soon as I first held him I fell in love. Yesterday I brought him to get his teeth cleaned and was informed by the vet that he was missing 11 teeth and he is at least 6 yrs. old. He had to remove 6 teeth and treat him for periodontal disease. I was so disappointed to find out that I had been duped into thinking this was a young dog. The only reason that I wanted another dog is because my other dog is getting old so I believed a young dog would help me deal with it. I love my new dog and would never give him up but I'm so sad to know that he is also an older dog. But my question is has anyone had experience training a deaf dog?
