I'm not sure about the quality of AKC's offering. But I have a close friend who is also my dog's vet and she recommended that I use Trupanion or Pets Best. I has already gotten a quote from VPI and the AKC insurance, and both were about 50% lower cost per month than Trupanion. But my vet said she is always hearing of VPI trying to get out of paying claims by labeling everything pre-existing conditions.
