Your dog may try to mate with your female. I've seen it happen wih my neutered male trying to mate with a female in heat at the dog park. (That's insane!!! Who brings a female in heat to a dog park?!) since you're not a breeder, and both your dogs are pets (as in inexperienced to the whole breeding thing) they can actually hurt themselves and it might be best to keep them separated just in case.
