I tried the cotton balls and earplugs and couldn't get them to stay in. You definitely don't want to push them into the ear canal.

I used to stress about getting water in the ears, but then I thought, Yorkies swim. When I dry my boys, I make sure to dry their ears well, with the dryer on low heat. Occasionally I use an ear cleaner with a drying agent.
