Default Teeth pulled - oh, yes!

When Taffy was growing, he developed a small 'underbite', which vet said was not much of one at all. But, when he got his larger, permanent teeth, the top front teeth were beginning to push behind his lower teeth, unknown to me, First time Yorkie owner. Then, I one day, thought his front, lower teeth were actually 'giving' when I brushed on them--so, we scheduled his 1st dental check. The vet said that ,yes, because his teeth were so close, that his bottom teeth were 'giving' & starting to loosen under the pressure of larger top teeth as he pulled on toys, etc.! Poor little guy!! The Vet removed his loosening, lower front teeth as she said it would Never get better, and then cleaned all the rest. She said, "Well, he'll certainly feel much better now." I felt SO Bad about Taff putting up with loosening teeth while he played! The vet said it had all developed slowly. She said a Yorkie loves to play so much that he wasn't about to slow down! His lower gum healed up quickly; he finally got the 'okay' to have his favorite chew toys back. She said the rest of his bite is better in the back because the top front teeth can come 'down' now. She said to keep up the brushing as Yorkies were 'notorious for developing tooth problems. (He's snoozing on my feet right now after his favorite game of fetching and catching his ball!) I feel your anxiety about dental surgery for any owner whose little Yorkies have it done!
