I used the crate. But the key is, whatever method you choose, you need to be consistent and strict. The first weeks have been very hard because he was allowed to leave the crate only to go outside and potty. We praised him when he potty outside and say things like "good boy, potty outside" and scold him with a big NO when he had an accident in the house. He is 4 month now, I stll dont trust him 100% and still supervise him .....but he is doing good and goes at the door when he needs to go potty.
