Fever is caused by an infection, whether it be bacterial or viral. That's why the antibiotic was prescribed. Giardia is a protozoan parasite which causes dogs to have diarrhea, not high running fever. Usu Met/Flagly is prescribed. I'm just wondering if it's a secondary infection (not from giardia). Since the antibiotics are not helping w/her fever....that is why the vet said to bring her back in (not bc he wanted to make more $) bc the antibiotics are either 1. not working for her or 2. there's something else going on.
If you already tested for giardia & it was confirmed, no need to test again (unless the new vet wants to, just trying to give you suggestions so you can use the money wisely to help Bunny & you can use it to have her blood tested. It will tell how all her organs are working properly or not). Just have the 1st vet office fax over the info to the new vet. Giardia is very hard to get rid of & can recur. Simply putting the shoes away will not kill it, it must be cleaned w/bleach solution & everywhere you stepped on & that she has stepped on, must be cleaned.
