Default spaying question

Hello!!!
I have a five year old girl named Chevelle (Chevy). Everything about her makes me smile and as I'm sure you all know she is like a daughter to me. Well... one bad day when she was almost a year old my mother accidently stepped on her (head). I of course fteaked out and in denial started to wack her chest to try get her to wake up. To my disbelief she did. After a day in am incubator and weeks of taking care of her in every sense... she was back to normal within a few months. However, I was paranoid to the thought of losing her again and did not have her spayed worring about the drugs and her not waking up from surgery. I understamd certain risks are taken by not spaying (I WILL NOT BREED HER) but i felt the benifits of spaying did not out weigh the risks. I am asking for some input on the subject and advice of if I have made the right decision (until benifits out weigh the risks). Basically if previous brain trauma can effect the outcome of the surgery. my vet did tell me it is a higher risk of her not wakimg up
