Questions About a New Yorkie-help Hello. I have a little male Yorkie-Baxter. He's 1 1/2. A little over a week ago, I went and looked at some female Yorkies. I want another...a girl just for pets-no breeding. Anyway, Baxter is AKC. The puppy (which I haven't picked up yet) is CKC. It didn't bother me at all...at first. I spent 1 1/2 hrs with the breeder. She was VERY nice. I picked out the puppy and put down a deposit. Of course, she isn't mine yet, so I have questions:
I've researched CKC (Continental, not Canadian), and it bothers me a little now that she is CKC registered. It didn't at first because the breeder spent 1 1/2 with me talking about the puppies, etc. She had the sire and dam on site-the sire is AKC and CKC registered. He was almost a champion-his handler became very ill and she had to stop handling him. Anyway, there are 52 champions in his bloodline-including his father and his grandfather. I saw pictures on both of them-they were beautiful! The sire is gorgeus as well. The mother is CKC registered only. She is cute also-babydoll face. Both are definately full-blooded Yorkies. They aren't over sized and have good coloring, very well behaved dogs.
The breeder said the puppy that I chose will get 4.5 lbs tops. She had me sign a contract explaining how everything will work-small contract, no tricky language. She will give a health guarantee when I pick the puppy up, she feeds Eukanuba and will send some home, she said that there is no diseases in either line. She explained to me about hyperglycemia especially in smaller puppies, etc. She said she's never had a problem, but wanted to tell me about it just incase. She gave me her e-mail address, address and phone number, and she encouraged me to stay in touch and send pictures after I taker her home.
She seems like a very reputable breeder. The only thing that bothers me (now that I've heard people say they'd never buy a CKC dog) is the fact that the puppy is CKC.
What do you all think? Would the CKC bother you-even with the time, etc that the breeder took...she seems to really care about the dogs.
