I apologize in advance but LOL I am being a mom here so I am sharing some rules that might help all new yorkie moms especially those with young human kids
1. No one wake the puppy from a nap
2. No one hold the puppy without you there and without them being on the floor.
3. No one hold the puppy while on the couch, a chair, while standing and while walking. Puppies this small can die if dropped even from the distance of chair. (there are two threads right now in the RIP forum about yorkies dieing as a result of a fall)
4. Hard to get the kids to comply to, but running and stomping feet in the house should not happen now that you have a puppy.
5. put a small collar on the puppy with a bell, yorkies have a way of getting under your feet and therefore can easily get stepped on.
6. crate the puppy and get her used to sleeping and resting in her cage, keeps her safe and your floors clean.
I say these things because of the numerous times I have read on here about yorkies that have died from being dropped or getting stepped on, and not only by kids but by adults as well.
I hosted a yorkie party and watched a very experienced yorkie mom sitting at my kitchen table hold a young puppy that squirmed so hard he basically popped out of her arms and fell to the wood floor.
Good luck the puppy stage is so much fun but LOL can also be full of challenges, take lots of photos they grow up so fast. |
We do all of this already! Though, we don't crate her when she sleeps, we put her in her play pen (she prefers this). We've had tiny animals before (ferrets and rats) and my boys know how to handle little ones! They're very gentle. I don't let them run around when she's awake and out of her play pen.

May I ask where you got her since you are unsure of her age, I also saw your other thread with the photos and thought she looked older than six weeks, she is cutie that's for sure. I got her off craigslist (bad, I know

I was told she was 7 weeks, but when I took her to the vet, the vet said she was 3-4.
We're mostly guessing. I suppose she could be 7 weeks. But I doubt much older than that, since they start to grow their hair and look more yorkie-like around 8 weeks, right?
