My favorite, easiest, quick fix is a small butterfly clip--you know, usually plastic, with the teeth. I have some that don't stay in well at all, & others that'll stay in all day so you need to experiment with what works best for your dog's hair. You can buy them anywhere, like Target or Walgreen's. When you gather the hair up, twist it a few times & then add the clip. Catch some hair that's not in the twist-that'll keep it from flopping forward.
Good luck!
