Tibbe has it and is managed on his diet. His liver is compromised but almost any Yorkie is going to have some type problem or the other and MVD can be managed nicely on diet. Tibbe has a recent tummy upset with some spitting up bile and a mucous-y stool and then diarrhea after eating two spilled nugget of corn and soy milk but a vet trip, medication and he was right as rain again, though I almost expired with worry his liver was bad again. It wasn't - just ate the wrong thing as he's on a 1/2 hepatic/1/2 I/D diet and the corn/soy just upset his GI system for a bit. He's fine now and fully feisty and playful on the MVD diet. If you do take the dog, commit yourself to feeding the special diet and learning all about MVD, not EVER giving them treats and human food and things they shouldn't have and know there may be tummy troubles from time-to-time. From what I understand, these dogs can live long, productive lives as long as their owner is committed to proper diet and regular blood tests twice yearly and good vetting.
