I live in NC by the OBX. Va beach is just a 40 min drive from me. There are plenty of dog friendly hotels. There is plenty of shopping to do around here, traveling as well. It just all depends what you are looking for. The weather has gotten a bit cooler out here so make sure to bring fall ish clothes
