I LOVE LOVE LOVE to show and it was a huge part of my life...When I was younger, I was lucky enough to find people who'd let me show their dogs in juniors and showed all kinds of breeds..but the breeding part has never really interested me....even when I worked for a breeder. I think puppies are cute, but I am not puppy crazy(I've had one puppy my whole life. the rest were all adults when I got them)...and I don't think I could ever do what breeders do...especially now that I am adult and these are my kids. I've grown soft over the years and don't think I have the stomach or nerves for breeding. When I worked for a vet clinic, I witnessed all kinds of procedures done~euthanasia, rabies tests, surgery and autopsies....and now, since these are my kids, my dog gets a flea or a tummy ache and I'm a mess.
I really have to give props to the professional breeders out there. Being that I've worked for one and I grew up playing in the show world, I know a little of what you guys go through and it's a lot of dedication, work, money and knowledge. And you've got to have a certain mindset to do be able to go through what you go through and still keep doing it. People who think it's going to be easy money are nuts. The only way it's easy money is if you don't love or care about your dogs enough to do it right. They literally are just an ATM to the people. I always laugh when people ask me why I spayed/ neutered my dogs and they tell me how much money I could have made of puppies because my dogs are so cute....but it just shows how ignorant the general population is when it comes to breeding.
