I do 1 of 3 different things with Gina when she starts to pull. I either turn around and start walking the other way, stop completely, or stop and put my foot on the lead so she has to sit down. All of these I learned on the 1st session of puppy training. As for the barking, no idea, I would suggest the private trainer if this continues to be a problem.
