Yeppers...most of the good breeders only breed a few litters a year, at the most.

If I were going to buy a puppy, I would find someone whom I knew was a good breeder and call them and talk to them and hopefully get on their waiting list. Some people will have an idea of which female they'd like to breed next and what her heat cycle is, so they'd have an approx idea of how long you'd have to wait.


You may find some reputable breeders here who aren't in your area, but could point you in the right direction to someone closer to you that they know or know of.


Btw, I don't think it's necessarily bad to buy from a breeder that breeds other kinds of dogs AS LONG as they aren't breeding mixes (a.k.a Designer Dogs) and selling them.I know a few breeders who show and breed a few different kinds of dogs and they are good breeders ...so that alone, wouldn't necessarily be a deterrent for me.
