My Lexi kills files, too. If they get down low enough, they're hers. Yuck.
A friend of mine had an electric fly swatter. It worked great. You don't have to swat, but it does make a noise like static electricity on contact with a little spark. I wonder if the popping noise and the sparking firey fly would scare her more?
