Short answer: petitions regarding the exploitation of animals.
Better answer: An international organization, based in NY, that is basically a "protesting" machine for just about any topic under the sun, with ties to (well-known) political groups. They take a very legitimate concern (i.e.,
exploitation of animals, on Craigslist) and use a variety of tools that include
petitions. People who participate in these petitions and actions inadvertently share some of their personal information (such as identifying themselves as being interested in a "cause"). This information has $$$$ value. Sometimes it's simply sharing your computer's ID. Some people have no difficulties after signing a petition. Others suddenly get 'dirty' links (virus, worms, etc.), and others are flooded with spam. It's best to know the organization well before allowing our well-meaning hearts to lead us to
e-sign stuff in the net.
Blessings!!!
