I am sorry to hear that they will have to fuse the joint, but it is still better than amputation. Yes, it probably would have been avoided if the first vet had not done the splint, but not something you can worry about as that is in the past. Just be sure to share your story here....it is one for people to learn from! I preach all day long about board certified specialists....while they may cost more, often in the long run it is cheaper and certainly much easier on the pup if you go to them first.
