7 weeks is pretty young to be away from the mamma.

On top of the Royal Canine Yorkie puppy, Royal Canine also makes canned food for mom and puppies(it comes in a white box with 3 cans)...it's like a whipped mouse and is easier for them to eat. You can find it at Petco or Petsmart.

You can also try baby food(like people baby food) if he won't eat the other things you are trying.

You definitely want to be careful about taking him outside or any place until he has his shots. Potty pads would be the best way to go. I wouldn't even take him to the pet store or to the dog park or anything until he sees a vet and has his vaccinations. Even when you are at the vets, I would be very careful and not let him run on the floor at the vet and i would even bring my own towel to put down on the table to put him on for the vet to examine him.

I know that I may sound a little paranoid, but I am saying this because puppies are very vulnerable at a young age...esp before they have their shots. You could pick up parvo, coccidia, or a variety of other contagious diseases that could be deadly to your puppy. I know breeders that won't even let people in their houses until their puppies are of a certain age and have been vaccinated.

Hope the above helps!! As far as the potty training goes, I have heard that Yorkies are in the top 5 for hardest dogs to potty train and I believe it. I think some are much better than others. Both of my dogs go outside to go potty...most of the time~but we still have occasional accidents. One of the best investments I made this year was one of those little green machine carpet cleaners!! If I ever get a yorkie puppy in the future, I will be litter box training it instead.

Welcome to YT and welcome to yorkie parenthood. Someone once told me that yorkies are like potato chips and that you can't just have one!! It's SOOO very true!! You'll find that they are very addictive!!
