My Gizmo was going into a hypoglycemic coma when I rescued him, so that would be the top of my list of things to watch for, Gizmo was 9 wks old. Make sure to check his gums several times a day, to make sure they are nice and pink as that is one of the first signs.
Also at that young of see if their is a puppy replacement milk powder that you might be able to mix with water ad maybe mix a little with his kibble to make it easier for him to eat plus get those extra nutrients mama would have still been providing. I feed gizmo royal canine yorkie puppy food, and he loves it. I also still give him it moist with water for breakfast and dinner, then let him free feed as much as he wants during the day.
Also I use potty pads, and learned really fast that Gizmo thought they were delicious lol, so I bought potty pad holders that clamp them down, and no more eaten potty pads :-)
Gizmo was very comforted at night when I would cover his crate on 3 sides to make it feel like den to him. I also put one my shirts for my smell in his bed, and I put soft music on for him to calm him. He has from the first time he slept a night here, slept through peacefully and has never cried.
He is adorable xoxo |
