Water that is boiled and cooled is free of bacteria, but this doesn't do anything to get rid of minerals. Even most filters don't get rid of minerals, but they get rid of things like pesticides through the use of charcoal filters. To get rid of minerals, you have to distil the water, boil it and the steam goes through tubes and turns into purified water in another container while the original container is left with nothing but the minerals. The minerals are too heavy and they don't turn into steam. You need a "still" to do this, but you should be able to find distilled water because it's used for babies drinking water and even some equipment.
