Is there no lump or could the vet not tell you where it was at all? If you knew where it was you could make sure to check it. If you sort of know but not exactly you could try a warm compress in that area which should help the infection come to the surface and ease the tension so that if it does ooze it is more gentle. How is he doing, is it seem to really bother him?
I hope it sorts itself put soon so you are both relieved.
Let us know how he is doing tomorrow.
