Start by getting her acclimated to the brush. Teach it like you would any other behavior. With Jackson, who HATES having his teeth brushed, I started by just bringing him into the bathroom every night with a treat. He would watch me brush my teeth too. Then I put the brush on the ground and let him investigate it, gave him a treat every time he got near it. I began picking up the brush and putting it near his mouth and any time he did not back away, he got a treat. Then I lifted his lip up and acted like I was going to brush but did not yet. Again, treat. You get the point, after about 2 weeks, we were actually brushing. He still gets a yummy treat for getting his teeth brushed. |
