I hear where you're coming from and I do respect your opinion.
The kickback they get is actually quite small, just so you know. It's not a big money maker. I think some vets may recommend it for profit (while concurrently believing in the food) and some may recommend it more for prescription diet / specialty issues.
There are many dogs on here who wouldn't be alive if it weren't for some of their prescription diets. They do have some very novel Rx diets that are key to some dogs being able to survive. So, I think for that alone - they do deserve some kudos for researching and developing the more novel diets.
Btw, I should maybe say that I don't feed SD and never have - so I'm not promoting it bc I feed it. I actually feed premade raw. But if my dog had an issue and SD had the only solution, I would def feed it!
