Default 9 year old Yorkie lived outside most of it's life

We have been asked to take on a Yorkie. Do you have advice, for introductions to our spoilt 6 mth old Yorkie, and questions I should be asking.

He's thought to be blind in one eye. I asked about his teeth, injections, house training, meals and sleeping habits. So his owner is taking him to the vet to get him injections, he apparently hasn't been having them, as he never left the garden (no walks). She will also get his teeth scaled and looked at, while at the vets. He's spent most of his 9 years living outside with another dog, that dog recently died, and he's been inside recently. He hates cages and crates, I'm guessing because he's been caged for most of his life. He sleeps anywhere he's put. -( I hope he'll like my bed, if Caleb is ok with that.)
We plan on taking him for a few days, on trial basis, to see if he will be happy here, with my two and us.
I can't imagine a Yorkie living outside, Our Caleb shivers already, when out. He goes and gets his top and gives it to me to put on him. Just hoping this dog has a double coat. We've not even met him yet, and he's breaking my heart to think of his life so far.

He's neutered.
