Welcome to Yorkie Talk. If it is brown brown, that is never normal. I would seek a second opinion from another vet. Has he had routine blood tests recently?
If it is green brown, it might be bile from the stomach being empty. Usually dogs will vomit yellow in this case. Does it happen at certain times of the day, like in the morning? You can try giving him a few kibble or a treat before bedtime. Make sure he never goes too long without eating.
