One school of thought says switching proteins is essential to prevent allergies or intolerance from developing. I don't know if there is any science behind that belief.

I have also read that one or two proteins should be withheld as a fallback in case a dog develops sensitivities.

My boys have been eating chicken based foods all of their lives, and the same brand/flavor almost non-stop for 3 years (Teddy) and 4 years (Max). They don't have any special dietary needs.
