I agree with people who will recommend training, but overall, I will never trust my boys off leash. The risk isn't worth it to me.

My boys were trained to "stay" at the door, but my father failed to give the command and Teddy got out and chased the UPS truck. That day, the babygates went up to keep the dogs away from the doors to the outside.

I train for emergencies, which we have had, but overall I do everything in my power to prevent my boys from getting loose.
