Hair poking in the eyes will cause more discharge. Try using a wet cotton ball followed by a flea comb to clean the corners of the eyes. You can hold Jasper's head stable by placing your hand around the bottom of his jaw, with your fingers applying light pressure on the corners of the jaw/head. Use keyphrases like "hold still" or "careful." He will get it with practice. Always follow with praise and treats.
Comb the hair on the sides of the snout every day and it will lay down flatter as it grows and is trained by the combing. You can wet it down too while growing it out.
