My poodle took pills her entire life and she was a pro at eating around them, a few times she even spit it out in other rooms.
We'd use cheese, liverwurst, lunch meat, regular meat, and wet dog food. Basically whatever we had in the fridge.
Stuff like PB and cream cheese didn't work because she'd lick around it.
She'd usually get her morning pill in cheese and her night pill in wet food, but some days we'd run out or she just would't eat it.
In general it's best to use the smallest bit possible to get the pill down and then another piece to wash it down.
