My rambo has the same problem except his hair isn't that thick. I"m trying to let his grow out cause the groomers cutt too much of it off so i'm going to let it grow to put it into a top knot. I do see that your bo has alot of hair though so maybe you can put the top half into a top knot and the other half i guess when it grows it won't be so fluffy and you can keep the rest of that hair as part of his facial hair.
