Update on Lola and pups: Last Thursday I noticed that one of her breast was very swollen and hard so I called my vet. They said to watch her as it could be that her pups were not sucking on that one. Well this morning her breast rupchured so away to the vet we go. She has an infection in her mammary gland and now cannot nurse her puppies. She got 2 staples, is on antibiotics and pain meds. I just bottle fed 7 puppies and tried to make them potty. I do have a question...Should I take the pups into another room away from Lola or should I let her have some contact with them just not nursing? I could surely use her help with the potty situation! I am worried about Lola and her pups and the infection. She goes back to the vet on Tuesday for possible surgery. Anyone with experience removing week old pups from their mom please feel free to chime in. I need all the help and advise I can get at this point. I have bottle fed before but never this many.
