They make a starch called Mary Ellen's best press. It's natural and doesn't attract bugs. And it comes in wonderful scents like English rose, lavender and beach. It's a little pricey, but it doesn't flake, and I mix mine about 1/3 water, 2/3 starch and haven't had any problems. I use it for quilting.
