Default My baby Kozmo 2/17/03 ~ 9/3/13

My baby girl Kozmo passed away on September 3, 2013 after a long battle with multiple illnesses. She was beginning to decline rapidly and she no longer wanted to suffer.

Four years ago she was diagnosed with liver shunts and was told she would not live much longer. She was told if she makes it to age 10 she is lucky. She made it to 10 1/2 so she's a miracle.

She also had luxating patella and not only displaced her kneecap but tore her ACL. So she had one leg she could no longer use and the other back leg was hurt, too. Due to her liver disease she was not able to have surgery and surgery was the only thing that could help her. Therefore she could no longer walk. She also had a bad heart and was on her way to heart failure. She literally was going to die by over-exerting herself in order to try to walk. So we decided that she had suffered enough and it was time for her to move on.

I know everyone says they have the best dog. We all do. But she really was my best friend. She was there on my wedding night, and the last picture taken was of she and I. She was also there when my husband left me, and she comforted me throughout the whole ordeal. She was with me through 3 moves and career changes. She was my best friend, and my little girl.

I know that it was time for her to go. I wanted to ignore her health issues but looking back I realize the last weeks of her life she wanted to be gone. She kept hiding and crawling into small spaces and I felt she could never get comfortable. She was coughing up bits of blood and just looked like she was hurting.

I was the last person she looked at before she died. I sang her to sleep and we kissed each other goodbye. I told her I would see her on the other side. When she left she looked so peaceful and so beautiful. She looked as though all the pain was gone, and she looked happy.

I will forever miss my baby girl. But I have her son, BJ, so her legacy will live on. And I love seeing her baby boy look more and more like his momma every day.
