That's what I did with Joey, I cut the black tips off and his whole head was silver for a while, around the age of 11 months it went from silver to beige and now it's slightly darker. He really went through a weird stage and because his silver hair blended with his scalp so well, he looked like he was going bald, that's why I cut the black tips off.
