Default Pee pad training

My 7 month old little girl is pee pad trained. She will also go outside. I'm finding that when I go to a friends house with her I need to take the pee pad with me or I can't trust her. She must be a little confused because she doesn't let me know when she has to go she just goes to the pad. I live in Michigan where we can get lots of snow. I thought pee pad training was a good idea for numerous reasons. But obviously it has it's drawbacks. I've heard Yorkies are notorious for peeing inside. I thought if I gave her the option of the pee pad, she wouldn't go on the carpet. Does anyone else have this issue with visiting friends and having to bring a pad? Or training tips for friends houses where there are no pads. I want to be able to take her with me without a pad and not have to take her out 2x an hour to make sure she doesn't just pee anywhere.
