Oh no! Poor Annie. I know that doggies can rub their noses on crates and xpens -- just sticking their noses through the bars -- and lose hair. Do you have a video camera you can set up? I used my computer camera to video my boys to see what they were doing when I had to leave them alone. Mac computers allow you to watch in fast forward.
For potty training, limit her freedom to a smallish area with the pad until she gets the hang of it. Praise her profusely when she does it right and give her a small treat like a single kibble.
