I don't know if birds carry Parvo - but it they did, it would be a bird-specific form of the disease and not one that dogs could catch. There is what scientists call a "species barrier" that almost always keep diseases from transmitting from one species of animal to another.

I think if your dogs has his shots, you needn't worry about his being in the yard, etc. Just watering every day certainly keeps most things in our yards down to a minimum.
