I have read on home cooking and talked to two different vets on it and all of them say that the dog is harmed if the meal is not balanced which HAS to be done by a vet nutritionist (which you can get balanced recipes from vet nutritionists online) and a supplement like Balance it HAS to be used. I am not saying your meaning to harm your dogs but not home cooking the right way is bad for them.
