I learned the hard way that Max has a bad reaction to saline solution, even the preservative free, purest drops. It caused him itching and irritation that led to and prolonged his corneal ulcers.
I thought the saline would be better than tap water. He gets tap water in his eyes when he has a bath, so I went back to regular water. Problem solved.
