Is there anything else I might need?
Have a First Aid Kit and first aid book and know what to do. Refresh on your Heimlich and CPR, how to prevent hypoglycemia and plan first reactions in those puppy emergencies, put ER vet number on Fast Dial plus have a map showing the fastest way to the ER vet for those late night visits. In the middle of the night when you are scared silly with a hurt or sick dog in the car with you screaming or lying too still, you can easily go past your exit or make a wrong turn - I know - my dog's 5 and I just missed my turn last trip to the ER vet and I've been there 5 or 6 times in past two years. Hopefully you won't need any of this and most don't - but if you do, all the preparation is invaluable.
