Oh my! Bless you! I know that feeling! I am a Brother gal myself but by no means am a professional. Lol. I'm sure some of these other pros can help more than I but now I will tell you what has helped me....going to my local dealer and talking with them. They even let me play and test out. That helps a lot! I already have my serger picked out by doing that but I gotta wait on Santa to swing by and pick it up.
