Like if they don't know there dogs they bred have Luxating Patella or if it ran in the lines of the dogs that surgery is around $3,000 for one knee. Reputable breeds do not breed dogs just for show they breed healthy dogs that stick to the standard and better the breed and that is what all good breeders do. I could never buy again from a non reputable breeder because they are the ones adding to the unhealthy non standard dogs of each breed we have out there and they are also adding to the overpopulation of dogs problem. We the buyers are the only ones who can truly stop this by not buying from non reputable breeders.
The puppy is $400 ($200 deposit) then $200 for the pick up. My rat terrier, whom I got from the shelter 8yrs ago has Luxating Patella..He was diagnosed with it when he was 3yrs old. So, just like getting a dog from the pound, you don't know it's genetic makeup, or possible health issues. And just because you get a dog from a reputable breeder, doesn't mean the offspring won't develop some kind of health condition. Also doesn't mean just because I'm getting a puppy from a family's dog who doesn't have papers, means that puppy will be sick and have a bunch of health issues. If it's not "full blooded" that doesn't bother me. I got Zoey from a family friend, whom got her from an old lady.. I don't know Zoey's history, and she isn't registered and never had papers but that's never bothered me.
