Thank you all for replying with some great suggestions! @KJC, Your recommendation is what I'm attempting to do. I have her for a few days and try to work with the mom and pup to be sure she is propering caring for and interacting with her. She really loves the dog but it just isn't working. We have a session today we'll see how it goes. Keeping her is almost causing more problems because the dog is so attached to me and shuts down when she leaves me and goes home. At my home the dog is very independent, finds her wee-wee pad or goes outside all by herself. She plays and does everything a puppy should do but she isn't distructive.
@MAXIMO, I'm trying to remain hopeful even though I've suggested to the owner that this may not be the dog for her. I think she waited too long to take her home and in the interim the dog attached to me and her personality isn't allowing her to bond to another person.
@VERBENA, For the potty issues, I told her that she needed to start with the basics just as I did, using the crate and confinement and a watchful eye. She works long hours so this isn't happening. She is definitely bored and lonely because in my home she has 3 playmates. The primary one being her dad. She is very distructive at her new home.
@JEZEBEL, So true!
@JULIA HOWARD, don't have a clue what you're talking about. You must have sent message to me in error. |
