Sounds like he must miss you a lot while your gone. He is probably happy just to have you around and paying attention to you. My girl is 3 now and she loves her walks and playing fetch but when I sit down to relax she is just as happy to sit with me. As long as she feels she is a part of everything I do she seems to be happy.
