Raven and I Are Sooo Sad!!! As you all know I posted in December about getting another yorkie. Well the time finally came Friday night I picked Scrappy up. He looked so cute, the breeder had a red Valentine bow around his neck. Raven didn't really want anything to do with Scrappy. But when we got the puppy home and they started to play, they were getting along fine. So heres the sad part......
On the way home Scrappy threw up on me. I figured the car ride, the bumpy road, stress leaving his litter mates, didn't think much of it because when we got home he ate again, played everything was fine. Saturday morning he got up ate, and I took Scrappy to my vet for a check-up. I noticed he was a little tired but didn't think to much about since he played so much the night before.
My vet checked him and said he looked really healthy. He was impressed by him. He did tell me to bring a stool sample in and he needed to be checked for coccidia, because these babies can get it really easy and stress can bring it on. (By the way Scrappy is 14 weeks today and weighed 1.6 at the vets Sat.)
On the way home he threw up on me again. So I'm thinking Scrappy is going to be one of those dogs that gets car sick. We get home Scrappy plays with Raven and acts normal. When I tried to offer food he wasn't interested. He drank water though. Early evening I decided to give nutri-cal because he hasn't had anything to eat all day because he threw up his morning meal. I got up about 2:00 a.m. to check on him to find that he had diarhea. Gave him more nutrical, he took water, and he had the diarhea a couple hours later around 6:00 a.m. I patiently waited until 7:00 a.m. to call for breeder. She thought since maybe he was on Royal Canine 33, and she forgot to bring me some, so she told me to feed him what I feed Raven which is Royan Canine Yorkshire Terrier that maybe his stomach was upset. I was only going to feed it to him that night until I could get some the next morning.
Long story short, I tried several things she told me to do which didn't work. Such as Immodium for kids to stop the diarhea. I tried to feed him chicken and rice blended in a dropper that came back up. Finally when the poor baby was dry heaving because he has nothing in his stomach, he is whimpering, I call the breeder back. She tells me that she is calling her vet, to have hime meet us at his office. While I'm getting directions he has diarhea again with blood in it this time. We get to the vets they discuss several things such as coccidia which they ruled out in the stool sample.
Next issue was Parvo..... The vet gave him 4 different shots some for fluid, antibiotics, and nausea. I took him back home with me because there is no one there around the clock. I dropped Scrappy back off this morning so he could be on a IV all day and they were going to test for Parvo. I can't call the vet until about 4:30 to see how he is doing. Im so sad, and my 11 year old son is in tears thinking that Scrappy is going to die. Hoping it turns out to be something else and fluids and antibiotics bring him around. Keep us in your thoughts please.
I should mention the breeder has been extremly nice and caring. She told the vet to put all charges on her account and assured me she guarantees all her puppies that if something would happen to this one it would be replaced. I know I only had him for a short time, but you know how quickly they steal your hearts.
