Having raised yorkies for over 16 years I can honestly say that it really depends on each dogs individual personality, whether male or female. Yorkies are like children, they are all different in how they behave. I have had males and females that were very affectionate total lap dogs and I have had males and females that were very independent and were not real lap dogs.

Pups often follow the personality of the parents so when selecting a puppy it is important to ask about the parents personality. Of course this can be difficult to judge if the parent have opposite personalities. In that case sometimes the puppy will take after the mom and sometimes after the dad.
